Inter-professional Insights: Learning Together about Roles and Responsibilities – A panel Discussion
On November 6, 2024, Dubai Medical College, Dubai Pharmacy College, and the College of Nursing collaborated on their first Interprofessional Education (IPE) event, themed "Interprofessional Insights: Learning Together about Roles and Responsibilities." This event brought together students from these three fields to develop a deeper understanding of collaborative healthcare. Through an engaging panel discussion, experienced practicing professionals from medicine, clinical pharmacy, and nursing shared their daily experiences highlighting their roles and responsibilities, successes and challenges they face in interprofessional collaboration.
Students engaged actively, asking questions to the panelists and exploring the responsibilities of each profession. In addition, they participated in a group case discussion on medication-related issues, emphasizing the importance of teamwork. profession’s contribution to patient care and safety. This event aimed to enhance students' communication and collaboration skills, equipping them with essential interprofessional competencies that align with IPE's core learning objectives. The group case discussions successfully created a collaborative learning environment, promoting mutual respect and teamwork among future healthcare professionals.
