Dubai Pharmacy College: Exciting Collaboration in the Making

On December 12, 2024, Prof. Anagha Joshi, Principal and Dr. Dayanand Kannur, Vice-Principal from Indira College of Pharmacy, Pune, INDIA visited Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls. The team had a fruitful meeting with Prof. Sherief Khalifa, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Vice Chancellor – Academic Affairs. The discussion focused on exploring a range of collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening academic and professional ties between the two institutions. 
The proposed areas of collaboration include: 

  1. Student and faculty Exchange: These initiatives aim to foster cultural and academic enrichment, opportunities for international exposure and experience in diverse educational environments. 
  2. Joint workshops and training: This is to enhance skillsets and knowledge in cutting-edge areas of pharmacy practice and education. 
  3. Industry-Academic Partnerships: Both sides deliberated on ways to integrate industry collaborations into these initiatives, ensuring students and faculty remain aligned with the latest advancements and needs of the pharmaceutical industry. 
  4. Innovative Educational Strategies: Developing innovative educational models that can redefine pharmacy education and practice for the future. 
  5. Collaboration on postgraduate programs: This would be tailored to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries, ensuring graduates are prepared for leadership roles in academia, research, and professional practice. 

Prof. Khalifa expressed enthusiasm for these initiatives, noting their potential to significantly enhance the academic and professional landscapes of both institutions. The meeting concluded with a shared vision of fostering innovation, building capacity, and advancing the field of pharmacy education through these collaborative efforts.
