Emirates Pharmacy Society Visits Dubai Pharmacy College to Foster Collaboration
Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls was honored to host a delegation from the Emirates Pharmacy Society (EPS), led by Dr. Abdulla Khalfan Saeed Al Kindi, President of the Emirates Pharmacy Society. The visit was aimed at opening doors for effective collaboration to enhance the role of pharmacists and advance the pharmacy profession in the UAE.
During the meeting, Dr. Amma Ibrahim Al Muaini, Clinical Pharmacist at STMC-Medical Affairs and a proud alumna of DPCG, was also present, contributing her insights to the discussions. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Khuloud Bin Rafeea and Dr. Halima Aldhanhani, who also provided their valuable input.
Professor Sherief Khalifa, Vice Chancellor - Academic Affairs and Dean of DPCG, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of joint initiatives to further the mission of strengthening pharmacy professionals.
Key points discussed during the meeting included:
1. Immunization Program Certification: Plans to establish a certification program for pharmacists, with DPCG signing an agreement to facilitate this initiative.
2. Prescribing Skills Program: A joint agreement between DPCG and DMCG was signed with the British Pharmacologist Society to certify pharmacists in prescribing skills.
3. Joint Research Day: An initiative to organize a research day for all pharmacy colleges in the UAE under the EPS umbrella, promoting collaboration and addressing challenges faced by pharmacy colleges.
4. Conferences and Publications: Plans to initiate EPS-led conferences and produce special publications regularly to highlight advancements and share knowledge within the profession.
This visit represents a significant step towards strengthening the pharmacy profession through collaborative efforts between the Emirates Pharmacy Society and academic institutions like Dubai Pharmacy College. The discussed initiatives will undoubtedly enhance the role of pharmacists and contribute to the advancement of healthcare services in the UAE.
