Dubai Medical University College of Pharmacy Marks the Successful Conclusion of the Preceptor Certificate Program in Collaboration with AACP and ACPE
The College of Pharmacy at Dubai Medical University is pleased to share that the fourth and final session of the Preceptor Certificate Program took place on January 12th, 2025.
The full-day in-person session, titled "Taking Precepting to Another Level Through Case-Based Application," provided participants with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they had gained during the previous preparatory sessions. Throughout the day, 28 preceptors from 11 institutions worked collaboratively in small groups, tackling complex case scenarios that addressed real-world preceptor-learner challenges.
We were honored to have Dr. Craig D. Cox from Texas Tech University and Dr. Bassam Atallah from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as our speakers and facilitators for this session.
This program spanned four sessions in total. The journey began in September 2024 with the first session, "Start of Preceptor Journey – Self Discovery," delivered by:
- Dr. Craig D. Cox (Professor, Regional Dean, and Division Head – Medicine, Texas Tech University HSC Jerry H Hodge School of Pharmacy)
- Dr. Kate Newman (Associate Professor & Director of Experiential Education, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy)
- Dr. Bassam Atallah (Clinical Associate Professor, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine).
The second session, held in October 2024, was titled "Start of Rotation – Learner/Site Preparation" and was delivered by:
- Dr. Suzanne Larson (Director, Experiential Education, Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Glendale, AZ Campus)
- Dr. Megan Kaun (Director of Experiential Education, The University of Toledo, College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)
- Dr. Nicole Gebran Connell, PharmD, BCPS, SQIL(HMS) (Senior Specialist Pharmacist - Clinical Pharmacy Lead, Dubai Health).
The third session, held in November 2024, focused on "The Feedback Experience: One Step at a Time" and was delievered by:
- Dr. Angela Brownfield (Director of Experiential Learning & IPPE Coordinator, Clinical Professor, University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) School of Pharmacy)
- Dr. Rucha Bond (Clinical Professor, Pharmacy Practice Division, Assistant Dean for Experiential Education, The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy)
- Dr. Sahar Elnajjar (Lecturer and Clinical Preceptor, College of Pharmacy, Dubai Medical University).
At the conclusion of the final session, preceptors were awarded Certificates of Program Completion, recognizing their dedication to enhancing their preceptorship skills.
